Introduction of Robin Browning
Robin changed the format of the entire year. SUSO gave 2 gigs before this  time, Xmas and Easter. We changed to 6: doing two performances of each programme (often at different venues) and adding sessions in the third term.
Other changes implemented:
• Created the assistant conductor position
• Summer tours became far more ambitious. Early ones were to Prague, Hungary, Barcelona. Before that it was Glasgow once every 2 years, if that
• Began far more eclectic and ambitious repertoire, including in early seasons Mahler (1, 2, 5, 6, 9, 10), Bruckner (4, 7, 8), Shostakovich (5, 6, 7, 9, 10, 11, 12, 15), Le Sacre (twice) etc.
